The Stylist Suite

I love movies. Like, a lot. Every year on Christmas Day, my mum, my brother, and I go see a movie, it’s our tradition. Movies are the perfect escape from a rainy day, a bad break-up, a fight with your best friend, or a day with no other plans. One of my favourite things about living in Toronto is that every year in September the city embraces movies like Olivia Pope embraces wine, completely and without hesitation.

But in addition to the movies there are plenty of parties to go to, and that’s fun too, because I’m lucky and sometimes write stuff on the interwebs I occasionally get an invite to one of these events. This sounds a little braggy, I don’t mean it that way (I swear!) I just get really excited when I get the opportunity to be part of something cool.

On Tuesday, the day before the official start of the festival, I headed over to The Stylist Suite at Trump Residences in downtown Toronto to see how the other side lives. The Stylist Suite is an exclusive invite-only celebrity styling lounge, so basically it’s where the celebs go to put on their glitter, and believe you me there’s a lot of glitter at The Stylist Suite.

Upon arrival you’re greeted by clothing racks adorned with stunning gowns and dresses suitable for everything from a red carpet premiere to a chic after party. Don’t forget to hit up the kitchen where Pour Niagara is treating guests to glass of bubbly or a pint of craft brew. Oh! And there’s popcorn from Toronto Popcorn Company; which after scarfing down an entire bag in an embarrassing amount of time, is now my favourite popcorn. If you love flavoured popcorn as much as I do (too much) go buy some now! Queen Pope would approve.

Once you’ve had a glass of bubbly and your popcorn head over to hair and make-up at the far end of the sweet where all of your beauty essentials are waiting to make you look red carpet ready. Get your nails done up with vegan nail polish; did you know that polish had animal bits in it? I didn’t. The more you know. Sit in Dyane’s magical chair while she does your make-up for the endless parties you’ll be attending that evening and finish up with a blow out, because you’re famous and this is your life.
